Your baby’s first smile, first steps, and first words are milestones you’ll never forget—but healthy vision is an important milestone, too.
At Amarillo Family Eyecare, Dr. Mackenzie Weir proudly participates in the InfantSEE® program, offering a no-cost comprehensive eye and vision assessment for infants between 6 and 12 months of age. This one-time exam is available regardless of insurance coverage or family income through a public health program managed by Optometry Cares® – The AOA Foundation.
Many eye conditions don’t have obvious symptoms. Even if your baby’s eyes appear healthy, some vision problems can only be detected during a comprehensive eye examination.
Early detection is important because healthy vision plays a major role in learning, motor development, and how children interact with the world around them.
The American Optometric Association recommends a baby’s first comprehensive eye exam between 6 and 12 months of age, followed by additional exams throughout childhood.
What Is the InfantSEE Program?
What Happens During the Exam?
Yes. The InfantSEE assessment is provided at no cost for eligible infants between 6 and 12 months of age.
No. The InfantSEE program is available regardless of insurance coverage or household income.
Pediatric wellness visits are important, but they aren’t the same as a comprehensive eye examination. An InfantSEE assessment uses specialized equipment to evaluate eye health and vision development that can’t be performed during a routine vision screening.
We provide comprehensive eye exams for children of all ages and would be happy to schedule an appointment.
